The noisy Mynah and Australian Magpies are considered as potentially problematic native wildlife in the Gold Coast. The Magpies are aggressively territorially of their nests and can attack unsuspecting people who get near their nest. Pest specialists can install deterrents to prevent problematic birds from making nests in buildings and installations.

Rains refreshes the earth after a scorching temperature, but it also heralds the influx of mosquitoes. This year, the area is experiencing mosquito problems following a heavy downpour. The city has an ongoing fogging program in wetlands, drains and low-lying areas to address mosquito problems. The problem is mostly caused by saltmarsh mosquitoes, but additional breeding happens in freshwater especially following periods of heavy rain. When high tides go above 1.6 metres at the Gold Coast Seaway, tidal marshes are flooding, causing mosquito breeding. This occurs on a monthly basis.

The risk is so high that CSIRO has recommended that an annual termite inspection and treatment is the best way to protect your home from these timber eaters.
