Baringa is a residential suburb in the Sunshine Coast, located in the Gubbu Gubbu traditional Aboriginal country.
It was split from Bells Creek in 2017 to support the increase in population in the Caloundra South Priority Development Area. Baringa is part of a master planned community that is expected to house tens of thousands of people in 30 years.
Baringa is well established, despite being a new suburb. You can find plenty of parks, green spaces and walking and bike paths. With excellent schools and plenty of amenities such as transportation, shops, and more, it is perfect for families and young professionals.
Pests can cause a lot of damage and diseases. Termites can destroy homes, while mosquitoes and rodents can spread severe illnesses. Others like spiders and ants are simply annoying to see around the house. This is why any pest infestation should be addressed immediately.
Wasp sting is extremely painful, and if the person develops an allergic reaction, it can be fatal. The general rule is to remain calm because wasps don’t attack unless threatened.
Be on the lookout for wasp activity. If you suspect that a hive is being formed, use a pressure hose or broom to remove the hive before a colony is established.
If the hive is large enough to house a thousand even a million wasps, don’t attempt to get rid of it yourself. Wasps will attack when their home is threatened. Call a qualified pest control technician to handle the hive safely and effectively.
Cockroaches are drawn to places where there is plenty of food, water and shelter. They don’t go away easily and they are highly adaptable to any type of environment.
They can be found anywhere, including boxes, wall cracks, furniture, sewers and drains. Cockroaches should be avoided because they can spread diseases. They love damp places and water is one of their breeding sites.
Be aware of water that may be collecting in your home or leaks and have it fixed immediately to prevent cockroaches from multiplying.
Spiders provide some benefits around the home as they feed on many common insects. However, they could also be a threat to children and pets. For spiders that bite, the sting can be painful and can swell and in extreme cases can be fatal.
Though most spiders are harmless and will only bite when threatened, it is best to keep them outdoors where they belong. Curious children love to play with spiders, which is not really a good idea especially if you don’t know what type of spider you’re dealing with.

Keep your home clean and make sure all holes and gaps around your property are sealed to keep rodents from invading your precious space.

Ants can become an annoyance because they contaminate food and it’s not a good look for a home to have ants. They can usually be found in kitchen and other areas where food is prepared and stored. They can also be found in entertainment spaces and where pets are feed.
