Pest Control in Grange

Grange, also known as The Grange, is an inner northern suburb in the City of Brisbane, located 5 km north of the CBD.

This quaint leafy suburb is neighbours with the suburbs of Wilston, Gordon Park, Stafford, Windsor, Alderley, Newmarket and Lutwyche.

There were 4,318 residents in Grange per the 2016 Census.

On the west is a hill called The Pinnacle, which rises to 57 metres above sea level.

Parks, sports grounds and green spaces can be found throughout the suburb. One of its many parks is Lanham Park, which features playgrounds and open grass areas

Most of the residential properties in Grange are free standing houses. These houses are a mix of Queenslanders, quaint character worker cottages and contemporary homes. The Queenslanders are mostly timber and built in the late 1800s through to the early 1900s.

There are also post-war homes, but many of these have been demolished to give way to subdivisions and modern homes.

With a good network of roads and tunnel, public transport is reliable. Together with well-connected bikeways and walking paths, Grange is very accessible and safe.

There are some parts of Grange that are susceptible to flooding, particularly those close to Kedron Brook. Flooding brings with it a host of pest-related problems, so if you are residing in that part of Grange, or considering buying property, better stay from that area.

Potential Risks for Pest Infestation

Here are the pests that could cause problems for residents and real estate in Grange.

Termite Control in Grange

Termites pose serious threat to properties. Though they don’t pose a threat to humans, they can compromise the structural integrity of your home by eating away at the walls, roofing and wooden frames.

If you are concerned about termites invading your home, book a pest inspection immediately. Or, if you suspect that there might already be termites in your home, call a licensed pest control technician immediately.

Silverfish Control

Another pest that doesn’t do harm to humans, but can cause significant damage to property if it is ignored. These insect with a silvery and fish-like shape is as old as time. Silverfish thrive in moist and humid areas of the home, so they would typically be found in bathrooms, attics, basements, etc.

They are hard to eliminate because they are fast and will avoid humans. They feed on things with starches, so many personal belongings in your home are susceptible to silverfish attack, including clothing, books, papers, and even human food. Silverfish will also attract other pests that consider it pre, including spiders, ants and cockroaches.

Mosquito Control in Grange

Brisbane offers the perfect environment for mosquitoes to breed. Our warm, subtropical climate and coastal mangroves and swamps are hotspots for mosquito eggs.

Mosquitoes are active during dusk and dawn as they consider direct sunlight an enemy. Mosquito bites are itchy and can lead to skin irritation. The bite of a female mosquito can also be deadly because it can lead to a serious viral infection.

If you notice a mosquito infestation in your backyard, call a professional pest control company to apply treatment and install barriers to block mosquitoes.

Spider Control in Grange

The sight of spiders crawling around your home is a sight that you don’t want to see. Most of us just find them creepy, but some people have a legitimate phobia of spiders.

Spiders tend to keep to themselves, spinning their webs to catch their prey and crawl around unnoticed. However, spiders should still be removed from your home because the sight of them and spider webs make your home unsightly and messy.

In addition, there are species of spiders that are deadly, and some of them are found in Australia. If you get stung by a spider, take it seriously by giving it immediate medical attention.

If you have a spider infestation, let a trained pest control technician deal with the problem.

Ant Control

In Queensland, the most common ant species are Coastal Brown Ants, Carpenter Ants, Bull Ants, Black House Ants, Garden Ants and Odorous House Ants. Ants are the strongest creatures in the world, with the ability lift 5 times their body weight. They are omnivores, which means they will eat both plants and animals.

Though they are small in size, ants can be a nuisance and formidable, too. This is because some species like the bull ant can deliver a painful bite. Ant bite rarely causes serious side effects, but some people can experience allergic reactions, which may need proper medical attention.

Rodent Control in Grange

Rats and mice are common, but they are bad news. They easily get into food sources and use your home to establish their nest. Rodents live in groups and are always searching for a place where they can breed and nurture their young in undisturbed.

Having rats or mice in your space should not be normalised as these pests carry diseases that can spread to humans. If you have rodents scurrying in your home or commercial space, call a licensed pest control specialist.

If you are building a new home, renovating or buying a home in Grange, you will need to consider what termite prevention solutions are available. Our company offers all types of solutions including physical and chemical barriers as well as reticulation systems. You can reach us on

TERMITE INFESTATION IN GRANGE QLD

Grange Termite Hazard Level

High – Very High Risk

Termite Hazard Level Gauge image

According to the Interim Termite Hazard Map by CSIRO, the Brisbane area, where Grange is located, is in the high-risk category for termite infestation.

Because Grange is close to the sea, the area is a good target by drywood termites, which need high moisture content in the timber they attack.

Termite Images Suburb

Throughout Queensland, the most commonly found termites are Subterranean termites and Drywood termites.

The West Indian drywood termite, is the world’s most destructive drywood termite. It is the culprit to massive economic damage to timber houses in Queensland, including properties in Grange.

  • A coastal environment like Wynnum is prone to termite and vermin attacks.

  • The number one thing that attracts termites is water or moisture. It is almost a guarantee that if a home has water leakage problems, it will soon be invaded by termites, if it hasn’t been already.

  • Damage to homes, whether made from weatherboard, is likely if termites, or white ants, are left unchecked.
