Gordon Park is a small, often-overlooked suburb bordered by Kedron Brook to its east and south, named after General Charles Gordon with most of its streets named for the campaigns he served in.
The Barron family farmed dairy cattle here from the 1880s, and the Gordon Park Estate began selling lots as early as 1886, well before the suburb's main interwar development took shape. Overshadowed for decades by its larger neighbours Lutwyche, Kedron and Stafford, Gordon Park even lost its suburb status for a period in the 1980s-90s before regaining it. That brook-bordered, interwar character is why pest control Gordon Park work focuses heavily on moisture from the creek boundary and the age of the suburb's core housing stock. Bob Gunn Termite & Pest Control has serviced Gordon Park for 25+ years.

Gordon Park's boundary along Kedron Brook to the east and south means a meaningful share of the suburb's roughly 4,400 residents live on ground that holds moisture longer after rain than inland streets elsewhere in the area. Combine that with a largely interwar housing stock built from the 1886 estate sale onward, and pest control Gordon Park work consistently comes back to two factors: proximity to the brook, and the age of the property. Every termite treatment Gordon Park and general pest control Gordon Park visit we run checks both.
A small suburb defined by a creek boundary on two sides and a long run of interwar housing needs a provider who treats both factors seriously, not a generic suburban script borrowed from a larger neighbour.
Our pest control Gordon Park service is scoped around the suburb's two defining features: its creek boundary and its mostly interwar housing age.

More on rodent control →Gordon Park takes its name from General Charles Gordon, and most of the suburb's street names relate to him, the armies he served with, and their theatres of operation. The Gordon Park housing estate was formally put up for sale in 1890, though lots within the estate had already begun selling as early as 1886. Before that, the Barron family were among the area's first European dairy farmers, with a homestead believed to date from the 1880s that stayed in the family until 1917, when it was sold to developers and subdivided. The Turrbal clan occupied the northern side of the Brisbane River, including Gordon Park specifically, long before any of this European settlement.
Despite being subdivided in the 19th century, Gordon Park's main development character is interwar rather than Victorian, and it's always been something of a quiet suburb, overshadowed by its larger, more populous neighbours Lutwyche, Kedron and Stafford. A branch tram ran through the suburb from 1940 until buses replaced it in 1969, and Gordon Park was actually reduced from a suburb to a mere locality during the 1980s-90s before regaining formal suburb status in the late 1990s. Throughout all of that, Kedron Brook has remained a constant: it forms the suburb's eastern and southern boundary, and creek-adjacent soil holds moisture for far longer after rain than inland ground, which is exactly the condition subterranean termites look for.
For homeowners, that means a Gordon Park property's termite risk tracks closely with two things: how old the house actually is (most of the suburb's core housing dates from the interwar decades following that 1886-90 estate sale) and how close it sits to the Kedron Brook boundary.
Alongside pest control Gordon Park, we service the surrounding Kedron Brook corridor suburbs, with termite treatment and general pest control visits scheduled efficiently across the area.

Yes. Properties along the suburb's eastern and southern boundary, where the brook runs, sit on ground that holds moisture for longer after rain, which supports more sustained termite activity than inland streets further from the water.
Much of it is interwar, dating from the development that followed the Gordon Park Estate sales of 1886-1890, old enough to carry real, established termite risk if a property hasn't been checked regularly.
Not for pest control purposes directly, though it reflects how overshadowed the suburb has been by its larger neighbours, which can mean less routine maintenance attention on some older properties than in busier suburbs nearby.
We recommend annual inspections for brook-adjacent and older interwar properties, which covers most of the suburb.
Yes. We service Gordon Park alongside Lutwyche, Kedron and Stafford as part of the same northside corridor.
Cost depends on proximity to the brook and property age. We provide a fixed, written quote after inspection.
Gordon Park is a small residential suburb about 5km north of the Brisbane CBD, bordered by Kedron Brook to the east and south. Named after General Charles Gordon and developed from estate sales beginning in 1886, it's long been overshadowed by larger neighbours Lutwyche, Kedron and Stafford, a quiet, interwar-era character that's central to how we plan every pest control Gordon Park job.
