Shailer Park is one of Logan's biggest suburbs, home to over 12,000 residents and anchored by the Logan Hyperdome, a regional shopping centre that's made the area a genuine commercial hub since 1989.
It takes its name from Francis and Catherine Shailer, who arrived in 1866 and grew cotton, sugar and, most famously, southern Queensland's first citrus orchard at nearby Slacks Creek. That combination of a major retail precinct and a large, mostly late-1970s residential base is why pest control Shailer Park work covers everything from Hyperdome-area commercial premises to standard suburban homes. Bob Gunn Termite & Pest Control has serviced Shailer Park for 25+ years with our own in-house technicians.

Shailer Park's scale sets it apart from most of our service area: it's a major activity centre under the state government's regional plan, not just a residential suburb, with the Logan Hyperdome and surrounding commercial and community facilities drawing constant foot traffic. Pest control Shailer Park jobs range from commercial hygiene programs for retail and food-service tenancies near the Hyperdome through to standard termite and pest treatment on the suburb's largely late-1970s to 1990s housing stock. Every termite treatment Shailer Park and general pest control Shailer Park visit we run is scoped to which side of that divide a property sits on.
Few suburbs in the corridor combine a regional shopping centre with a population this large. A pest control Shailer Park provider needs commercial pest management experience as well as standard residential termite knowledge, across a suburb that's grown steadily since the 1970s.
Our pest control Shailer Park service spans the suburb's commercial and residential sides, from Hyperdome-area hygiene programs to standard termite protection on established homes.

More on general pest control →Shailer Park is named after Francis and Catherine Shailer, who settled in the area in 1866 with their children. Like many early district farmers they grew cotton and later sugar, but the family's best-known legacy is fruit: they ran what's described as the first citrus orchard in southern Queensland, at nearby Slacks Creek. The Shailer name was used as a district from 1971 and as a sub-district of Slacks Creek from 1977, before Shailer Park was officially named a suburb in its own right in 1991. The family's local influence continued for generations: Glen Shailer, a grandson of the original settlers, served on Albert Shire Council from 1961 to 1985 and was Mayor of Logan City in 1982.
The suburb's modern character is defined less by its orchard origins than by its scale. The Logan Hyperdome, which opened in 1989, is a regional shopping centre significant enough that the Queensland Government listed Shailer Park as a major activity centre in its South East Queensland Regional Plan, a different category to most residential suburbs in our service area. Census figures show the suburb grew from 6,438 residents in 1986 to over 12,000 today, almost entirely through the kind of steady late-1970s to 1990s housing development that's now old enough to carry real, established termite risk.
For pest control purposes, Shailer Park demands two distinct approaches: ongoing commercial hygiene management for the Hyperdome precinct's retail and food-service tenancies, and thorough termite protection for a large, ageing residential base that's had decades to develop activity if it hasn't been checked regularly.
Alongside pest control Shailer Park, we service the surrounding Logan suburbs, with termite treatment, general pest control and commercial hygiene visits scheduled efficiently across the area.
Area hub
Yes. We run custom inspection and compliance-focused hygiene programs for retail, food-service and office tenancies in Shailer Park's commercial precinct.
It's worth a proper inspection. Housing from this era is old enough to have developed real termite risk, especially if it hasn't been checked regularly, and we see this pattern often across Shailer Park's established streets.
Yes. Commercial sites need compliance-focused hygiene programs rather than a standard residential termite treatment, and we scope each to the property type.
We recommend annual inspections for properties over 20 years old, which covers most of the suburb's late-1970s to 1990s housing stock.
Yes. We service Shailer Park, Slacks Creek and the surrounding suburbs that share this orchard-and-farming history.
Cost depends on whether it's a residential termite job or a commercial hygiene contract, and on property age and size. We provide a fixed, written quote after inspection.
Shailer Park is a major suburb in the City of Logan, about 29km south-east of Brisbane's CBD, named a suburb in 1991 after decades as a district and sub-district. Its scale (over 12,000 residents and a regional shopping centre significant enough to be listed as a major state activity centre) sets it apart from a standard residential suburb, and that scale is central to how we plan every pest control Shailer Park job.
