North Maclean is a small riverside locality on the Logan River, right on the Mount Lindesay Highway, with just over 1,500 residents according to the 2021 census.
It started life in the 1860s as a river crossing (originally called Logan Bridge) and that low-lying, river-flat position still shapes pest control North Maclean work today. Homes close to the river sit on soil that holds moisture longer after rain, which is exactly the condition subterranean termites look for. Bob Gunn Termite & Pest Control has serviced this stretch of the Logan River corridor for 25+ years with our own in-house technicians.

Because North Maclean is small and tightly built around the river crossing, pest control North Maclean jobs tend to be concentrated rather than spread over large acreage, but that doesn't make them simpler: river-flat soil near the Logan River holds dampness well after rain, which keeps termite and ant activity going for longer stretches of the year. We scope every termite treatment North Maclean and general pest control North Maclean visit around how close a property sits to the river and how the block drains.
North Maclean's river-crossing origins mean the suburb's oldest homes sit closest to the water, on the flattest and often dampest ground in the locality. A pest control North Maclean provider needs to read a property's position relative to the river, not just its age.
Our pest control North Maclean service is built around the locality's river-flat position, with every inspection checking drainage and moisture conditions before any treatment is recommended.

More on rodent control →North Maclean began as a crossing point on the Logan River, originally known as Logan Bridge. A simple low-level bridge went in around 1860, and a township was surveyed in 1863 with one-acre allotments laid out on both sides of the river. The crossing never grew into a full town in its own right, but it anchored the district for decades. In 1997, the single locality of Maclean was split into North Maclean and South Maclean, and the area became part of Logan City in the 2008 council amalgamation after previously sitting under Beaudesert Shire.
That riverside position is the main thing that shapes pest control here. North Maclean sits on flat, low-lying ground close to the Logan River, and that kind of ground holds moisture in the soil for longer after rain than higher-lying suburbs nearby. Damp soil against a slab or stumps is exactly what subterranean termites are drawn to, and it also supports higher ant activity through the warmer months. Properties set back from the river on slightly higher ground see less of this pressure, but the locality is small enough that most homes are within a short distance of the water.
For homeowners, that means termite risk in North Maclean tracks fairly closely with how close a property sits to the river and how well the block actually drains after heavy rain, more so than the age of the house. Our inspections here always start with that read of the site before we recommend any treatment.
Alongside pest control North Maclean, we service the full Logan River corridor and surrounding suburbs, so termite treatment and general pest control visits are easy to schedule together across the area.

Yes. River-flat land holds moisture in the soil for longer after rain than higher ground, and damp soil against a slab or stumps is exactly the condition subterranean termites look for. Properties closest to the river generally need more frequent checks.
We recommend annual inspections for properties close to the river, rather than the two-year minimum sometimes applied to higher, drier blocks further from the water.
The job itself isn't smaller; it's shaped by position rather than property size. We assess each North Maclean property's distance from the river and how it drains, since that matters more locally than block size.
Yes. We service all of North Maclean and the neighbouring South Maclean side of the river, and often schedule visits on both banks together.
Ants and cockroaches are common given the warm, damp riverside conditions, and we see seasonal rodent activity from riverbank vegetation moving into homes during cooler months.
Cost depends on how close the property is to the river and whether termites are already active. We provide a fixed, written quote after inspection.
North Maclean is one of Logan City's smallest localities, formed in 1997 when the original Maclean district on the Logan River was split into North and South Maclean. Its history as a river crossing rather than a planned town means development has stayed modest, and the Logan River remains the defining feature of the area, both for its character and for the pest pressure it brings to the properties closest to its banks.
