More on termite inspections →City of Logan, QLD
Meadowbrook is bordered by the Logan River and Slacks Creek to its north and east, bisected by the Logan Motorway, and home to a major institutional precinct: Griffith University's Logan campus, Logan Hospital and a TAFE campus all sit within the suburb.
It's also partly a flood zone: much of the local golf course and Lake Elleslie, at the entrance to the university, sit within a defined flood area. That mix of waterways, flood-prone low ground and large institutional buildings is why pest control Meadowbrook work is different to a standard residential suburb. Bob Gunn Termite & Pest Control has serviced Meadowbrook for 25+ years with our own in-house technicians.

Meadowbrook's geography does a lot of the work in determining pest risk here: the suburb's northern and eastern borders follow the Logan River and Slacks Creek, and a defined flood zone covers the golf course and the area around Lake Elleslie. Properties in or near that flood-prone ground hold moisture for longer after rain, which keeps termite pressure elevated well beyond what a standard inland block would see. Pest control Meadowbrook work also covers the suburb's institutional buildings (the university, hospital and TAFE campus) alongside its residential streets.
Few suburbs combine a defined flood zone with a university campus, a hospital and a TAFE college the way Meadowbrook does. A pest control Meadowbrook provider needs to read a property's position relative to the flood zone, not just its age or size.
Our pest control Meadowbrook service is scoped around the suburb's flood-prone geography and its mix of residential and institutional properties.

More on general pest control →Meadowbrook was once part of the farming district of Loganlea, worked from the 1860s by the Armstrong family on a property they named Riverdale, where they grew cotton, sugar, corn, millet and maize, and raised poultry, pigs and dairy cattle. Their produce was railed to the Kingston butter factory or to Brisbane's markets. The suburb wasn't formally separated and named until 1991, though the first housing estate had already been marketed (somewhat confusingly, under the similar name Meadowbank) from 1987. Development accelerated through the late 1980s and 1990s with the Loganlea TAFE campus opening in 1988, Logan Hospital in 1990, and Griffith University's Logan campus, which adjoins the Logan Motorway bisecting the suburb, in 1998.
Geography shapes Meadowbrook as much as this institutional growth does. The suburb's northern and eastern borders follow the Logan River and its tributary Slacks Creek, and much of the local golf course, along with Lake Elleslie at the university's entrance, sits within a defined flood zone. Flood-prone, low-lying ground like this holds moisture in the soil for far longer after rain than higher ground, which is exactly the condition subterranean termites thrive in, and it means termite pressure in Meadowbrook tracks closely with a property's position relative to the river, the creek and the flood zone rather than simply its age.
For pest control purposes, that means Meadowbrook needs a genuinely site-specific approach: flood-zone and river-adjacent properties need closer, more frequent attention, while the suburb's university, hospital and TAFE buildings need the kind of commercial hygiene program a large institutional site requires.
Alongside pest control Meadowbrook, we service the surrounding Loganlea and Logan River corridor suburbs, with termite treatment, general pest control and commercial hygiene visits scheduled efficiently across the area.
Area hub
Yes. That low-lying, flood-prone ground holds moisture for much longer after rain than higher ground elsewhere in the suburb, which supports more sustained subterranean termite activity on nearby properties.
Yes. We run custom inspection and hygiene programs suited to larger institutional and commercial buildings, relevant to Meadowbrook's university, hospital and TAFE precinct.
It depends on your exact position relative to the Logan River, Slacks Creek and the golf course area. We assess this on-site as part of every inspection rather than assuming based on street alone.
We recommend annual inspections for properties near the river, creek or flood zone, and standard intervals for properties on higher ground elsewhere in the suburb.
Only indirectly: the suburb's modern housing has mostly replaced the original 1860s farmland, but the river and creek boundaries that shaped the old Riverdale property are the same ones that shape termite risk today.
Cost depends on whether it's a residential, flood-zone or institutional property. We provide a fixed, written quote after inspection.
Meadowbrook is a suburb in the City of Logan, formally separated from the old Loganlea farming district and named in 1991. It's since grown into a major institutional precinct, home to Griffith University's Logan campus, Logan Hospital and a TAFE college, while its northern and eastern borders along the Logan River and Slacks Creek keep part of the suburb within a defined flood zone, a geography that shapes every pest control Meadowbrook job we run.
