Jimboomba sits on the Mount Lindesay Highway about 49km south of Brisbane, where acreage blocks that trace back to the suburb's cattle-run days sit alongside the newest streets of the Greater Flagstone growth corridor across the Logan River.
That mix (decades-old timber homesteads and brand-new builds within a few streets of each other) is why pest control Jimboomba calls split evenly between long-running termite problems in older properties and new-build termite system checks. Bob Gunn Termite & Pest Control has worked this stretch of the former Beaudesert Shire for 25+ years, using our own in-house technicians rather than a rotating cast of subcontractors.

Jimboomba's name is said to come from a Yugambeh word meaning "place of loud thunder and little rain", fitting for a suburb that still gets its share of sudden subtropical storms between dry spells. Pest control Jimboomba work has to cover both ends of the suburb's history: original acreage land along Mount Lindesay Highway that's carried termite pressure since it was cleared for grazing in the 1840s, and the Flagstone-facing side of the suburb, where new estates sit on what was recently open paddock. We scope every termite treatment Jimboomba and general pest control Jimboomba visit to which side of that line a property sits on.
Few Logan corridor suburbs span as much contrast as Jimboomba: century-old timber homesteads near the original Dowse and Henderson run land, and architect-plan homes a few minutes away in the Flagstone-facing estates. A pest control Jimboomba provider needs a plan for both, not one standard script run twice.
Our pest control Jimboomba service runs from a single termite system check on a newer build through to full barrier treatment on an older acreage property, scoped from a proper inspection, not a blanket package.

More on termite inspections →Chemical and physical barrier systems sized to Jimboomba's larger acreage perimeters as well as standard suburban blocks.
More on termite treatment →Treatment for ants, cockroaches, spiders and silverfish moving in from paddocks and bushland edges common across the suburb.
More on general pest control →Termite management systems installed to Building Code standard for new builds on the Flagstone-facing side of Jimboomba.
More on pre-construction protection →Thomas Dowse took up the land that became Jimboomba in 1845, and by 1851 it had passed to Andrew Inglis Henderson, who ran sheep and then cattle on it. Jimboomba House, built around that time, served as a stage coach depot on the Casino mail route, one of the oldest working properties in the district. The Beaudesert railway line reached the area in the late 1880s and the local primary school opened in 1890, connecting Jimboomba's dairy and livestock produce to Logan and Brisbane markets. The suburb's population stayed small until a growth wave began in the early 1980s, and it became part of Logan City in the 2008 council amalgamation after decades under Beaudesert Shire.
That older run land is still full of original timber: fence posts, stumps, sheds and stands of remnant timber along the Logan River boundary that have carried termite colonies for generations. The newer story started in the mid-1990s when the Flagstone estate was developed across the river, and has accelerated since as the state government's Greater Flagstone Priority Development Area pushes new residential growth onto what was open grazing paddock right up to Jimboomba's western edge.
For pest control purposes, that means two very different risk profiles in one suburb. Original acreage properties near the highway often have long-established termite activity in old timber that nobody's walked past in years. Newer builds facing Flagstone have a builder-installed termite system that's rarely been checked since handover. We treat each the way it needs to be treated, rather than running one standard visit for the whole suburb.
Alongside pest control Jimboomba, we deliver termite treatment and general pest control right across the Logan growth corridor and into the Scenic Rim border suburbs. Click through to the area closest to your property for tailored termite inspection, treatment and pest control services.

Jimboomba's original run land along Mount Lindesay Highway has carried grazing and timber stands since the 1840s, and a lot of that old timber (fence lines, stumps, sheds) still stands. It's a common place for termite colonies to have gone unnoticed for years, so we inspect it as part of the job rather than stopping at the house.
Yes. New builds get a termite management system at construction under the Building Code, but it needs checking, not just installing. We verify the system is still intact rather than assuming it's permanent protection.
Yes, as part of the same visit. Timber sheds on Jimboomba's older blocks are a common entry point for termites and rodents, and leaving them out would miss where a lot of local activity starts.
Properties near the river boundary with Flagstone tend to have more remnant native timber nearby, which supports higher termite pressure than a fully cleared block. We factor proximity to the river into inspection frequency.
A termite barrier is a dedicated system to stop subterranean termites reaching the structure. General pest control targets ants, cockroaches and spiders. Most Jimboomba properties benefit from both, and we can quote them together.
It depends on block size, number of structures and whether termites are already active. We provide a fixed, written quote after inspection, no surprises added later.
Jimboomba became part of Logan City in the March 2008 council amalgamation, having previously sat within the Shire of Beaudesert. It remains one of the corridor's largest towns, anchored by the Mount Lindesay Highway and growing fastest on its western edge, where the Greater Flagstone Priority Development Area is turning former grazing land into new suburbs. That contrast between old run land and new estate is what shapes every pest control Jimboomba job we run.
