Ant Control in Kangaroo Hills

Ants are common, especially during the summer months. There are thousands of ant species, but only a few are considered as pests.

Two types of ants that are of concerned are the Black Ants and the Coastal Brown Ants, which build large colonies in and around properties. These nests, which ants build in the dirt, woods, under pavers, wall cavities or roofing gaps, can remain standing for a long time.

Ants can travel long distance in search of food and water. Most species of ants will take the food and water back to their nest.

Ants can be active all-year round. Ant activity typically increases during periods of high humidity. Ants will typically be found crawling in your cupboards, bathroom, wall surfaces, near electrical outlets and anywhere where food and water can be found.

Spider Removal

There are hundreds of spider species in Australia. Some are dangerous and others are harmless.

The most common spiders that pest control technicians treat are:

  • Garden Wolf Spider – ground-dwelling spider that is most common in the southern and eastern states. They are not aggressive but will bite when threatened.
  • Redback Spider – can be found all over Australia. Characterised with a distinctive red stripe on top of their abdomen, the female is more lethal than the male. These spiders are commonly found in hidden, completely dry areas like garbage bins, logs and sheds.
  • White-tail Spider – primarily found in Southeast Australia, this species is mostly lives on the ground and feeds on other spiders. It is common in Southeast Australia, hiding in cabinets, restrooms and holes.
  • Huntsman Spider – Found in most parts of Australia, this species mainly lives indoors or under barks of trees or in cars. It is considered the biggest species of spiders. Though non-aggressive, Huntsman’s bite can be quite uncomfortable.

Spiders are nocturnal and so will only be spotted at night when they are searching for food (i. e. other insects). They tend to be more active during the colder months, as they emerge from their secret locations in search of a friend. They hibernate from autumn until spring.

Kangaroo Point Rodent Control

Rodents can damage homes as well as businesses, resulting in thousands of dollars’ worth of repairs. They are omnivores, so they will eat human food and household items.

Their constantly growing incisors compels them to gnaw anything they encounter, including electrical wires, house framing, furniture, doors, plaster boards.

The types of rodents that are common in residences and businesses:

  • House mouse – the culprit in mouse plague in Australia, this species prefers dry locations, so they are more likely to be found in roofs, ceilings, furniture, wall surfaces and even outdoors.
  • Norway Rat – Also called brownish rat, water rat or drain rat, they can live both indoors and outdoors, living in sewers, around rivers. They also dig burrows in the ground. They are the biggest out of all rodent species.
  • Roof Rat –The smallest among the rodent species, are usually found in roof areas. They are non-aggressive, but are quick and excellent climbers.

Rodents are nocturnal animals, so they are mostly active at night. They are considered pests because of the damage they can do on properties and the health risk they pose. Rodents can spread various diseases, including leptospirosis, Hantavirus, typhus, and more.

Mosquito Control

Mosquitoes breed in still water. They can multiply fast because eggs can develop into adult mosquitoes in a matter of six to 10 days.

These pests normally bite at dawn and sunset. This is the time of day when their internal clock says it’s time to feed.

Mosquitoes can make life unpleasant because they bite and make that high-pitched buzzing. Only the females bite to suck blood from humans. The males feed off the nectar found in plants.

Mosquitoes are quite common in Australia, but it doesn’t mean it’s has stopped being unpleasant being around them. Here, it is not common for mosquito bites to transmit diseases. What bites bring is the potential for skin inflammation.

Termite Treatment in Kangaroo Point

There are about 360 species of termites in Australia, including the subterranean termites and the drywood termites.

They are silent and prefer to stay hidden, so you are more likely to see signs of termite presence instead of seeing the actual insects.

With so many species, pest control specialists need to identify which species has invaded your property in order to employ the right treatment.

Clicking sounds within the walls of your home. Discarded insect wings in your window sill or doors. Hollow sounds when you tap the timber in your home. Doors or windows not closing properly. Pencil-width tunnels or mud tubes around your property or exterior walls of your property. These are just a few signs that you might be dealing with a termite problem.

If you are building a new home, renovating or buying a home in Kangaroo Point, you will need to consider what termite prevention solutions are available. Our company offers all types of solutions including physical and chemical barriers as well as reticulation systems. You can reach us on

Throughout Queensland, the most commonly found termites are Subterranean termites and Drywood termites.

The West Indian drywood termite, is the world’s most destructive drywood termite. It is the culprit to massive economic damage to timber houses in Queensland, including properties in Kangaroo Point.

  • A coastal environment like Wynnum is prone to termite and vermin attacks.

  • The number one thing that attracts termites is water or moisture. It is almost a guarantee that if a home has water leakage problems, it will soon be invaded by termites, if it hasn’t been already.

  • Damage to homes, whether made from weatherboard, is likely if termites, or white ants, are left unchecked.
